What started as a summer of growth for Mariam became a transformative journey that brought her to a new life and career in Prague.

Mariam attended our Law program back in 2022. She decided to spend her summer with ECCEDU because she wanted to experience living abroad, gain practical experience, meet new people, and learn how to become more independent.

During our interview Mariam told us that the program was an amazing experience, describing it with three words: unexpected, inspiring, unforgettable. She still considers it one of the best adventures of her life. Not only did she gain knowledge and build a network, but she also had the unique opportunity to write an article for Czech Vogue, which remains one of her greatest achievements.

After the program, the confidence and connections she gained led her right back to Prague. She pursued her Master’s at Charles University, and today, three years later, she is still in Prague, now working with ECCEDU as a Program Coordinator, helping students just like she once was.

Our last Alumnus we want to introduce to you is Nasri from El Salvador. Nasri joined our Business Program this summer and his goal was to step completely out of his comfort zone, to grow in a place where he had no natural advantages, testing himself in a new culture and language.

From the galleries of Muzeum Prahy to the departure gate, he defined his summer as “Dreamlike, Challenging, and Transcendent.” However his most powerful memory came after the program ended. Sitting at the Prague airport, he had a simple meal and was overcome with emotion.

“I finally experienced... the satisfaction of living in the present,” Nasri shares during our interview. “The kid who was ‘left behind by everyone’ was now having lunch in Prague after a successful internship. Could you imagine? All the hard work, the stress, and the effort had paid off.”

Back at university in El Salvador, Nasri carries this newfound confidence. The experience proved to him that he can thrive in a global setting, giving him invaluable international experience and a sharpened, more creative mindset for his future career.

His advice? “Get out of the box... Explore, ask questions... and ask for people’s social media. You will definitely want to stay in touch.”
